“On the first day of Christmas and my true love gave to me…”

A really great night out.  It is a good idea in this busy season to remember why we love our significant other and to take time to reconnect.  It is easy with the all the Christmas shopping, parties to attend, Church functions, baking, and family stress to get into a hum-drum routine with your honey.  Winter for some reason is also a very difficult time to come up with date ideas.  I am here to help.  Here are twelve date-night ideas that will help you make time for each other and are winter proof or even winter inspired.

  1.  Ice Skating – either outdoors or indoors this wholesome past-time is fun and romantic.  Don’t know how?  Don’t worry.  Half the fun will be catching each other.
  2.  Beer Tasting – whether you’re able to tour a brewery or just going to a pub and doing a beer flight, this is sure to please men and is its own conversation focal point.
  3. Go to a Conservatory- Take a break from the winter blues and refresh your lungs by breathing in the atmosphere around fresh plants.
  4. Snowshoeing- If you don’t have your own, don’t worry, you can rent them.  This is a good day-time date or even something that can be done at night in some places, which of course is very romantic.  If you feel like less talking and challenging your athleticism slightly more, try:
  5. Cross Country Skiing – This is great for the more active couple.
  6. Live Music- The great thing about the holiday season is that everywhere is filling their halls with music of all kinds.  You could revel in the Christmas spirit by enjoying sounds of the season, or go to a local bar/pub/restaurant and enjoy their live bands.
  7. Sushi bar- This interactive dinner involves sharing, live entertainment in the form of the sushi being made, and the availability of saki of all kinds.
  8. Take a Sleigh-ride- most cities have this available especially during the holidays, otherwise check area  B&B’s for a-la-carte carriage rides
  9. Couples Christmas Party- connect with other couples and allow them the opportunity to also have a date night.  Provide couple games and enjoy a night with others.  Add a theme if you like: Ugly Christmas sweater(hint, hint)
  10. Cookie Decorating- This date can be had in the comfort of your home and if you’re not a baker buy everything pre-packaged.  This date includes cookies, frosting, and candy; I don’t know how you can go wrong.
  11. Hockey game- whether it’s Professional, College, or even pee-wee, this is a fun date.  Cozy up next to your date and become part of the crowd.
  12. Shopping- I know this was included on the to-do list, but it can also be a fun outing for the two of you. The way to make this a fun date is to not be task-oriented and to have only one destination.  Try going to a book store with a coffee shop or to an up-scale toy store.

Enjoy the season and take advantage of it’s many opportunities .  Remember to have fun and enjoy each other during this Christmas season.
